Please let me get ill first

This might seem a strange plea but “Please let me get ill FIRST”.  Having just got over swine flu see previous article I realised something; I normally catch anything going around after my wife.  So what I hear you say, well ….. When a loved one gets ill (1^st person) quite naturally the healthy one (2^nd person) looks after the 1^st person.  Of course the inevitable happens and the 2^nd person catches the bug.  Now it always seems to me that the 2^nd person in a household to get ill catches it worse than the first but more importantly the 1^st person is still too ill to look after the 2^nd person.  Therefore the 1^st person, at least for a couple of days gets looked after and fussed over whilst the 2^nd person has to struggled on without any of the benefits of being ill.  Then by the time the 1^st person has recovered sufficiently to be able to start caring for the 2^nd person, the 1^st person whether from being stir crazy from being confined to the house or genuine pressure to return to work abandons the 2^nd person.  So all I beg is that if I’m going to catch it, can I for the 1^st time be the 1^st person, please.
